What a wonderful world!
I just got a report that announced Norway is (again) one step ahead in women's progression. Norway got the first rank for its 44.6% women that is taking board position in Norway. Based on the BBC it was followed by Sweden (22.4%), USA (15.1%), and UK (around 11 %).
It is again as a result by the power of good will of the government to give such an opportunity for women to participate more in the development of country. A Norwegian politician said, " we are only 4.8 million so we need more women to join, to make things broader."
Those numbers was reported on 2008. Norway women participation in board members was only 3% on 1992, 6% on 2002, and 22% on 2009. In 2002 the government start to implement regulation that company in Norway should have 40% women in their board member. On 2005 0nly 22% attained, but they gave fines for non-compliance. So on 2008 the number enermously increased till 44.6%.
What a wonderful world!
